Travel - How to Get to Rome
To make your journey as smooth as possible, here’s a guide on how to reach the Eternal City by airplane and train.
Arriving by Airplane
Rome is served by two international airports:
1. Leonardo da Vinci Airport (Fiumicino - FCO)
-
The main international airport, located about 30 km from the city center.
-
Transportation to Rome:
-
Train: The Leonardo Express takes you directly to Roma Termini (main train station) in about 32 minutes.
-
Taxi: A fixed-rate taxi ride to central Rome costs €55.
-
Shuttle Services & Buses: Various shuttle buses operate between the airport and the city center at an affordable rate.
-
UBER is also available
-
2. Ciampino Airport (CIA)
-
A smaller airport mainly used by budget airlines.
-
Transportation to Rome:
-
Bus + Train: A short bus ride connects you to Ciampino train station, where a train takes you to Roma Termini in about 15 minutes.
-
Direct Shuttle Bus: Several companies run shuttle buses to Roma Termini, taking about 40 minutes.
-
Taxi: A fixed-rate taxi to central Rome costs €30.
-
Arriving by Train
Rome’s main train station is Roma Termini, which is well-connected to major Italian and European cities.
From Other Italian Cities:
-
From Milan: High-speed trains (Frecciarossa, Italo) take about 3 hours.
-
From Bolzano: Travel time is approximately 4,5 hours.
From Other European Cities:
-
Direct trains from Paris, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich are available, but often take longer than flying.
Once you arrive at Roma Termini, you can take a taxi, metro, or bus to your accommodation.
Getting around Rome
To get around the city you can use UBER or download the app "itTaxi" to easily call a Taxi.
If you need any help planning your journey, feel free to reach out! We can't wait to celebrate with you in Rome!
Accomodation
For accommodation close to the wedding location we recommend to stay in Trastevere. There are plenty of hotels and Airbnbs in the area.
